I made a gift giving tool to find gifts for people you know using the free category on Craigslist Tallahassee. It helps people make friends with people though matching up people from the lost connections category as well as the free section. There are lots of free things on Craigslist, a lot of people who can't afford gift, and a lot of people wanting to make friends via the internet. I made a place where all sorts of people can do just that.
I had a plan to make this Machine and I did everything in my power to make it work the way I wanted, the most helpful tool I used was the book Learning, PHP, MySQL and Javascript by Robin Nixion. I had to use the explode function to scrape the data from Craigslist and when I was looking through forums nothing made sense since they were all for specific problems but this book really broke everything down at the end. Also Owen Mundy's Freedom For Our Files data scraping demo code was a huge help with calling the information from the outside server.
